A few years back Lush was invited to a packaging conference to talk about what we do, then after a while we realised that we were only there for entertainment value. We described how we go to every possible length to reduce packaging and preferably avoid it altogether and they smirked at our naivety. Everyone else was spending millions on packaging or
trying to sell the others millions worth of brand new packaging designs (except our mates at innocent drinks who were also spending as little as possible and looking for sustainable sources). Proud business people
presented detailed case studies on some insignificant products lovingly encased in innovatively shaped pots, boxed in triple layers of card, wrapped with UV reflective film, tied with attractive, tamper proof
ribbon. They spent so much on packaging that there wasn’t that much left to spend on the actual product. Plus they produced layer upon layer of stuff to go straight into landfill

We see the world a bit differently. We use every bit of our ingenuity to devise solid products so we can reduce the packaging and
preservatives our products need. Most of them have none at all.
They go naked, releasing lovely fragrances to drench our shops
in scent. This gives you better value and helps to reduce the
environmental cost. We’ve been doing this for over ten years but
not making much noise about it. We just thought it was about time
to start kicking up a bit more of a fuss.
Liquid products need packaging the way that bodies need skin.
If they weren’t there all the runny bits would fall on the floor.
Some of our products are liquid and we keep their packaging
simple, recyclable and minimal.
At Lush we have lovely people to explain what our naked products do; they are a lot friendlier than layers of printed packaging and sometimes they dance to the music we play in our shops. Our solid products are all different from anything you’ll find anywhere else in the world and with all the beautiful essential oils and natural butters, fruit and herbs we
use, they are a good deal better value.
Right then, back to the nakedness. You can choose to have your products clothed to protect them on the journey home; we’ll put labels on them if you need something to remind you what you bought when you get home (apart from this Lush Times of course). But if you do prefer to go naked, nobody could be happier than us. Let’s sock it to the smirkers!

| If you haven’t already checked the website and spotted our new
Ballistics, here’s a special treat for you. Lush’s Bath Ballistics are about as naked as we can get – just fizz and fragrance packed into a ball ready to bring delight to bath times. Mo spent the beginning of 2007 working on some of her most fabulous yet and has decided to release her four absolute favourites into the world. The super-reviving Sugar Rush has the familiar scent of certain fizzy drinks; don’t ever soak in one before bed time (unless you aren’t
planning to sleep). Butterfly Ball is a precious pairing of two shades of pink Ballistic,
scented with a sublime honeysuckle fragrance. (Brought to you by your Lush fairy
godmother.) Then there’s the Haagenbath, a refreshing, mintily scented, pink, creamy ball with grated chocolate bath melt to soften your skin, definitely made for sharing. How about a confetti bath, a slow melting, Buck’s fizz scented Ballistic spotted with bright pink that makes a frothy bath, with fluorescent pink webs of colour. It’s called the Champagne

Coconut butter is a lovely massage medium, it’s beautifully nutritious for your skin, lovely and melty and just what you need all over your body for a bit of a treat.
